Mutfwang Sweeps Across 17 LGAs to Win APC Governorship Primary
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election after recording a landslide victory in the party’s primary election conducted across the 17 local government areas of the state.
The official declaration was made on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the APC Secretariat, Kalwa House, along Bukuru Road in Jos, where party supporters and stakeholders erupted in celebration following the announcement of the results.
Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer, Fidelis Mnyim, disclosed that the party recorded 240,832 registered members for the exercise, while a total of 236,405 votes were cast statewide during the primary election held on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
According to the final results announced by the committee, Governor Mutfwang polled 233,335 votes to defeat retired Commander Yilchini Jan Bida, who secured 3,070 votes. Ngim thereafter declared Mutfwang duly elected as the APC governorship candidate for Plateau State ahead of the 2027 general election.
