APC ON THE PLATEAU GROWS STRONGER AS HON. SOLOMON MAREN RETURNS HOME

In what many have described as a defining moment in Plateau politics, Hon. Solomon Bulus Maren, former member representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defection ceremony, held on October 11, 2025, at the Mbar Community Centre, drew a large crowd of supporters and key political stakeholders. Among the dignitaries present were Hon. Dr. I.D. Lalu, current member representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency; Chief Elisha Gatol, APC Ward Chairman; General John Sura (Rtd), representative of Senator I.D. Gyang; and Hon. Chief Sylvester Wallango. Their presence reflected the unity and growing confidence within the APC family in Plateau State.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Dr. I.D. Lalu warmly welcomed Hon. Maren to the APC, describing his defection as a patriotic and timely homecoming of a tested leader. He noted that Maren’s political experience and grassroots influence would further strengthen the party in Mangu/Bokkos and beyond. He reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to unity, inclusiveness, and development, expressing optimism that Maren’s entry would consolidate the party’s gains across Plateau State.

Responding, Hon. Maren expressed deep gratitude to the APC leadership and members for the warm reception. He explained that his decision was guided by conviction and a desire to serve under a platform that truly reflects the aspirations of the people. According to him, joining the APC marks a new chapter of collaboration, peace, and purposeful governance. He assured supporters of his total commitment to the growth of the party and the advancement of Mangu/Bokkos.

Moreover, the Plateau State APC Woman Leader described Maren’s defection as a major breakthrough for the party at the grassroots. She noted that his coming has rekindled hope and revitalized the ward’s structure, adding that his influence and the inclusion of many politically active women would further consolidate the APC’s base. She also commended the National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for his visionary leadership, which continues to inspire confidence across the state.

Likewise, Professor John Barnabas-Bow of Plateau State University, Bokkos, hailed Maren’s move as a great political gain for the APC. He described the decampee as a “big fish” and a “great giant” whose political experience will fortify the party’s strength and unity. He emphasized that the APC remains a progressive platform that values humanity and development, and Maren’s return signals renewed momentum for a stronger Plateau.

In conclusion, Hon. Maren’s defection has not only redefined the political landscape of Mangu/Bokkos but also injected fresh optimism into the APC family. With his entry, the party appears poised for greater cohesion, deeper grassroots mobilization, and a renewed drive toward inclusive governance and sustainable progress in Plateau State.
