PLASMIDA and Plateau State University, Bokkos, Partner to Build the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

As part of efforts aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and preparing young people for opportunities in the modern economy, the Plateau State Microfinance Development Agency (PLASMIDA), in collaboration with Plateau State University, Bokkos, on Monday, June 22, 2026, officially flagged off a five-day masterclass on Business Plan Development and Proposal Writing Using Modern Technologies for fresh graduates of the institution.

The training, which is taking place at the Entrepreneurship Development Centre of Plateau State University, brought together students, lecturers, facilitators, and other critical stakeholders. Among those present were the Director General of PLASMIDA, Hon. Bomkam Ali Wuyep; the Director of Administration and Finance of PLASMIDA, Mr. Le’an Jackse; and the Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Plateau State University, Dr. Benjamin Mibam.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Director General of PLASMIDA, Hon. Bomkam Ali Wuyep, welcomed the students and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity provided by the five-day masterclass. He expressed appreciation to the management of Plateau State University, Bokkos, for the fruitful partnership and for its commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also equipped with practical skills needed to thrive in today’s rapidly changing economy.

Hon. Wuyep also commended the Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, entrepreneurship development, job creation, economic revitalization, and human capital development. He urged the students to take the training seriously and maximize the knowledge and opportunities it offers.

Also speaking, the Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Plateau State University, Dr. Benjamin Mibam, appreciated the Director General of PLASMIDA for embracing the collaboration. He underscored the importance of entrepreneurial training, particularly for students preparing to enter the labour market, noting that practical knowledge and innovation are increasingly becoming essential for success after graduation. Dr. Mibam further revealed that the centre is working closely with organizations such as the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), and PLASMIDA to strengthen entrepreneurial capacity among students and graduates.

The opening day featured a series of interactive sessions. Mr. Le’an Jackse delivered a presentation on “Introduction to Business Plan Development,” while other facilitators, including Yilman, took participants through sessions on “Marketing Plan” and “Production Plan.” The sessions were highly participatory, providing students with opportunities to engage directly with facilitators and gain practical insights into business planning and proposal writing.

The training is expected to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to develop viable business ideas, write compelling proposals, and leverage modern technologies to create sustainable enterprises in an increasingly competitive environment.
