Governor Mutfwang and Minister Doro Flag Off Presidential Food and Nutrition Support in Plateau

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has flagged off the distribution of Presidential emergency food and nutrition items in Plateau State. The ceremony was led by His Excellency, Barr. Manasseh Caleb Mutfwang, Executive Governor of Plateau State, and the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro. Top government officials, party leaders, and stakeholders attended to witness the launch of this humanitarian intervention.

Samuel Jatau, Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, welcomed dignitaries and guests, acknowledging prominent leaders including Governor Mutfwang, APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and Minister Doro. He appreciated the Federal Government for extending the programme to Plateau State, highlighting its importance in supporting vulnerable citizens. He urged transparency and fairness in the distribution to ensure aid reaches those most in need.

Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for remembering the poor through timely humanitarian interventions. He noted that while economic reforms aim for long-term prosperity, such emergency programmes provide immediate relief. He also commended all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the initiative.

Minister Dr. Bernard M. Doro described the visit as both official and personal, noting Plateau State’s special significance to him. He explained that the intervention targets families affected by food insecurity, climate challenges, and economic hardship, prioritizing women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. He added that the Federal Government is introducing the “One Humanitarian and One Poverty Response System” to ensure long-term social protection and sustainable support for vulnerable communities.

APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda reflected on the programme’s origin, noting he secured ₦25 billion for interventions targeting vulnerable communities nationwide, including Plateau State. He praised Minister Doro and the Plateau State Government for ensuring effective implementation and reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to social protection under the Renewed Hope agenda.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs highlighted that the distribution addresses challenges such as insecurity, communal conflicts, and climate-related pressures, in collaboration with the state government to ensure accountability and effective delivery. The programme also aims to help communities recover and build resilience.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely support, noting the assistance would help provide meals and maintain basic nutrition for children and the elderly. They prayed for continued government support and commended the initiative.


The event underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations while promoting long-term poverty reduction. Collaboration between federal and state authorities is expected to strengthen communities and ensure sustainable social protection across Plateau State.
